When Judah and his brothers betrayed Joseph, Joseph descended (Genesis 39). He went down to Egypt and down into prison, but he was not abandoned.
Yahweh was with Joseph, and he extend to him his steadfast love. The LORD gave him favor in the eyes of the prison … The person in charge of the prison paid no attention to anything in Joseph’s charge because Yahweh was with him, and whatever he did the LORD caused to be successful. (Genesis 39:21–23)
Joseph was not abandoned, and neither was Jesus.
For he has not despised or turned away from the affliction of the afflicted, and he has not hidden his face from him, but he has heard when he cried to him. (Psalm 22:24)
Joseph ascended two chapters later (Genesis 41), and Jesus’s ascent from death began two days later (if you count in modern “days”). The Father never abandoned the Son, and he won’t abandon those who follow the Son. This is the gospel.
