LXX Psalm 5

For the end, for the heir — a psalm of David

To my words listen, Lord! Make sense of my cry. Pay attention to the sound of what I’m asking, my king and my God, because I will pray to you, Lord.

In the morning, you will hear my voice. In the morning, I will present myself to you and watch because you are not a God who wants lawlessness.

And a person who lives wickedly will not live in your presence. People who disregard your law will not endure your gaze. You hate all those who work lawlessness. You will destroy all those who speak what’s not true. A man of bloodshed and deceit the Lord abhors.

But I, in the abundance of your mercy, will enter into your house. I will worship towards your holy temple in fear of you.

Lord, lead me in your justice because of my enemies. Keep your way straight in front of me because truth is not in their mouth. Their heart is worthless. An open grave their throat. With their tongues they deceive.

Judge them, God! Let them trip over their own plans! In light of their overflowing godlessness, drive them away because they rebel against you, Lord!

And let all those who hope in you be glad. Forever they will be joyful. And you will live among them, and they will boast in you, all those who love your name, because you will bless one who is just.

Lord, like a weapon you have encircled us with contentment.
